If they offer a free consultation, use that time to ask questions and gauge whether you feel safe, heard, and comfortable.
+ How many sessions do I need?
The number of sessions you need is entirely personal to you, your situation, and the goals you are hoping to achieve in therapy. For very specific goals, short-term therapy can be an ideal approach. For many, therapy often leads to changing goals and ongoing exploration that can lead to weeks, months, or years in therapy. It all depends on you and your needs.

Therapy is a unique process for everyone, and sometimes having nothing to talk about in particular that week could signify that you are ready to reduce the frequency of your sessions due to your progress.
