It Doesn’t Have to Feel Like This

Is your anxiety causing you to overthink the decisions you make in your life? Does your overthinking prevent you from experiencing joy? Anxiety and worry can have devastating effects on our daily life, preventing us from being “present” with those we love, limiting our ability to experience moments of peace, and perpetuate a cycle of self-doubt and low self-esteem.

Anxiety symptoms are unique to each person, and impair different areas of life. You may feel irritable and on edge, overthink your interactions with others, experience trouble in your relationships with your loved ones or difficulty concentrating at work. You do not need to continue suffering without support.

 Individual Counseling

You CAN learn more effective ways of managing your anxiety. In my sessions with clients, I teach them how to recognize their “fight or flight” cues and ways to respond to anxiety and challenge the negative thoughts that fuel the worry and overthinking. During our telehealth sessions together, I can help you:

  • Learn helpful coping skills

  • Utilize grounding techniques

  • Identify and challenge negative thinking patterns that fuel the cycle of anxiety and stress

  • Replace negative thoughts with more helpful thoughts conducive to your wellbeing

I draw from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Polyvagal Theory. Anxiety can have many different contributing factors and so I base my approach on the individual needs of every client and what aligns best with their values and lens of the world.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the therapy process like?

Being new to therapy can feel daunting, but it doesn’t have to be a stressful experience. During my free consultation call, I can answer any questions and doubts potential clients may have. With the right therapist, therapy can feel like having a conversation with someone you trust.

How long does therapy last?

The therapeutic process is voluntary and unique to every client. Depending on the severity of the symptoms you are experiencing, and the different areas of your life that are impacted, therapy can last anywhere from weeks to a year or more. The frequency of sessions and duration of treatment should always be discussed with your therapist so you are aware of the plan and are in agreement.

What are therapy sessions like?

Sessions are 50 minutes in duration, and typically occur once a week unless a higher/lower frequency of sessions are needed. Therapy sessions are where we discuss progress toward the goals, explore new coping skills, explore feelings, or talk about whatever is on my client’s mind that may be bothering them. I like to check in with how my client is feeling that day, and tailor the session accordingly. Sessions are a judgement-free zone where you are safe to “come as you are”.

How do I get started with therapy?

You can contact me through any of the contact or scheduling links on my page or email me at andrea@innerknowingcounseling.com to set up a time to have a brief phone consultation where we discuss what type of support you are needing. If we both feel that my services would be a good fit for your needs, we would then schedule an intake session in which we talk more in depth about your symptoms and what you have been struggling with.

Anxiety can take a mental and physical toll. With the right tools, you CAN take back control of your life.
